The Promise: “Snap up this nails inc essential to help encourage healthy nail growth and keep cuticles soft.”
The Truth: This nourishing oil is the perfect finishing touch to your home manicures. Glamoxy Snake Mask Review by Rodial
At a Glance: Peel-off mask
The Promise: “Following the success of glamoxy™ snake serum, Rodial is proud to introduce glamoxy snake mask. The glamoxy snake mask is an innovative black ‘peel off’ formula that visibly improves skin radiance and texture. Amino acids and liquorice brighten skin tone while enriched minerals deep cleanse and purify pores to remove excess oil, dirt and impurities..”
The Truth: The first thing that strikes you when you use this product is that it is very unusual. Black is not a colour that you expect from a beauty product and its texture is sticky and a bit strange. On application, it didn’t spread uniformily which made me question whether it would act as it was supposed to or not, but I needn’t have worried. This mask is one of the easiest peel-offs I have ever used. It dries in 15-20 minutes, at which point it starts to come off by itself. Glamoxy Snake Mask is very easy to peel off and instantly gives skin a boost—my face really looked refreshed as soon as I took it off. 5/5

Hi Shine Silk Touch Lipgloss by Jemma Kidd
At a Glance: Lipgloss
The Promise: “Your mother told you carrots were good for your eyes, she just didn’t know how right she was! Yes To Carrots Moisturizing Eye Cream smoothes and hydrates that delicate area around your eyes, leaving your skin feeling refreshed, soft and moisturized. Quick, go call your mother, tell her you were listening all those years ago, she’ll be so proud!”
The Truth: There are many other products with similar designs out there, so the packaging doesn’t get any points for originality. Still, it’s a sleek, chic design. The texture of the lip gloss itself was somewhat stickier than I would’ve liked, but it offered a nice coverage. This Jemma Kidd lipgloss offers a smack of exotic taste on application which isn’t quite my thing but isn’t too unpleasant either.
In conclusion, this is a pretty average lipgloss, but it does come in a range of nice colours and doesn’t have any major flaws, so I would buy it again. 3.5/5

Watts Up by Benefit
At a Glance: Highlighter
The Promise: “Our soft focus highlighter turns on “watt” ya got with a delicate champagne glow that’s gorgeous. With a cream-to-powder finish…it’s a switch on “wow” for all complexions. You’ll adore the smooth applicator & luminous sheen.”
The Truth: I was somewhat perplexed by the packaging at first, but it’s actually very easy to use. One end reveals a light golden highlighter that you sweep over the top of your cheekbones and brow bones, while the other is a rounded sponge that helps you blend in the product to create the shape and intensity that you want.
I had never really used a highlighter before. I always felt like it was an unnecessary extra step that would just complicate my make-up routine, but I am now officially a convert and have used Watts Up every day since I got it. This highlighter is easy to use and helps give a healthy glow that is just perfect for day-to-night looks. 5/5
Available from Benefit’s website and from Boots for £24.50

Rubber-Look Nail Varnish in Kink by Illamasqua
At a Glance: Nail Polish
The Promise: “Leave your mark with bold, rich, vibrant colours. Hardwearing and chip-resistant with individual finishes from matt to high gloss. Apply two coats for intensity and use with Illamasqua Nail Base Coat and Illamasqua Nail Top Coat for the perfect finish. Talk with your hands and make a statement.”
The Truth: When Illamasqua first posted about its new rubber-like texture nail polish, I was very excited. The latest nail polish trends had left me less than impressed—don’t get me started on magnetic and crackle effects—and I was desperate for something fresh.
During the last Vogue’s Fashion Night Out I popped into the Illamasqua Beak Street store which was celebrating its first anniversary to see what the new nail varnishes looked like. It was love at first sight and I just had to try it. Choosing a colour was hard and I hesitated before settling on Kink, a deep forest green.
I have nothing but good things to say. This nail polish is super easy to apply and dries really quickly, even when two coats are applied. The finish is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It would be the perfect companion to a latex outfit, but can of course also be worn with everyday clothes. The colour is lovely and I would love to also have it in black. 5/5
Available from Illamasqua’s website for £13.50

C Me Blush Lip Tint by Yes To Carrots
At a Glance: Lip Tint
The Promise: “Yes To Carrots C Me Blush are 95% organic, NPA certified lip tints. Want that extra boost of colour for those gorgeous, smoochable lips? These lip tints add that little oomph you’ve been looking for. With ingredients such as coconut, jojoba and sunflower oils and shea butter, these will soothe, condition and hydrate your lips whilst adding the touch of colour you’ve been craving naturally. Let’s see you pucker up to kissable colour!”
The Truth: This is the first Yes To product that has dissappointed me. I love its taste, its moisturising properties and so much more about it, but unfortunately it has one major flaw – the colour pigments do not offer an even coverage. As a result, your lips look strange, somewhere between patchy and lumpy. And it can even get worse – applying Ruby Red means you end up looking like you just ate spaghetti. A real shame. 2/5

The Porefessional by Benefit
At a Glance: Pore-minimising primer
The Promise: “Quickly minimize the appearance of pores! Apply this silky, lightweight balm for translucent pore coverage and smoother-than-smooth skin. Pores…now you see ’em, now you don’t! Complements all skin tones.”
The Truth: I wasn’t expecting much from this as I’ve tried pore-minimising products before and they were far from successful. The Porefessional, however, is a true game changer.
Oil-free, this silicon-based primer is lightly tinted, which made me worry I might end up looking orange, but it actually blends in straight away and is very easy to use. At first, I couldn’t notice any difference, but the pores quickly faded away after just a few moments – this pore minimiser really works.
Recently, I’ve caught my reflection in the mirror a couple of times after nights out and was surprised to notice how good my skin looked, before realising it was all down to The Porefessional as my pores were invisible. Needless to say, I’m very impressed and strongly recommend this pore minismiser. 5/5
The Porefessional by Benefit £23.50 available on Benefit’s website and at Boots.

If there’s one thing you can always expect from top make up brand Illamasqua, it’s innovative make up looks that push the boundaries of what’s considered beautiful. And with its new AW collection, the Theater of the Nameless, and accompanying campaign, it’s done it once again by creating a dark, sophisticated universe showcasing a mix of decadent opulence and updated classics.
I particularly like the make up and styling used in these visuals:

Total Treatment Facial Mask by Yes To Tomatoes
At a Glance: Face Mask
The Promise: “Time to treat yourself. Totally treat yourself. To Tomatoes. Yes To Tomatoes Clear Skin Clearing Facial Mask is a total deep pore treatment that refines, purifies and even moisturizes your skin, while keeping your complexion clean, clear and balanced. Filled with potent anti-oxidants that fight free radicals, and bursting with powerful sebum (acne-causing oil) absorbers, you’ll be tickled red with this tantalizing treat! Go ahead, take the time to treat yourself, your skin will thank you!”
The Truth: I bought this product without realising that the Yes To Tomatoes range is aimed at oily/combination skins. As I’m more on the dry/sensitive side of the spectrum, I decided it would make more sense to try it on people who would benefit more from it. And boy were the results amazing!
After just one application, much to my surprise, improvements were noticeable – everyone was positively glowing! And that’s really all you need to know. I could add that this product has a really interesting texture, which makes it an ideal treat for a pampering session. Or that it is free of parabens and even that 99.6% of its ingredients are natural. But really, you just need to know that this fantastic mask is a must-have for oily/combination skins. 5/5
Available from Beauty Bay for £11.99
